mag-a-log

have you ever noticed that magazines are not magazines any more? Bazaar, I love the editorials normally but this month it just wasn't cutting it. when did fashion become the promotion of next season instead of whats fresh and interesting? i find my self more interested in what Beth of Vintage Society and Siri of Ringo Go Have a Banana are wearing than what kate moss and gemma ward are wearing.

i guess i take solace in Lula but really twice a year? and for $54? Oouf. Anyway here is some content that isn't selling anything that I am totally in love with right now...

toile tattooed men by mimi kirchner, her felting is amazing too!

my friend mimi from s.f. is doing some great printz...

ok the world is right again, geez! that took a lot of internet healin'!

ruminate.

I've been looking forward to Eley Kishimoto's new line the most lately. They always do so much with color and pattern - lovelovelove. However, I have to say that this fall line is a little dissapointing, but maybs my hopes were a little too high. Some of my favez (and I'm thinking bottom left including hat for graduation):

more fall prints.

Tibi, Temperley

Matthew Williamson, Rebecca Taylor
(my favorite shows so far, along with tibi)

The Temperley dress on top reminds me of an elongated ikat version of this.

the oneone update.

I met the mystery Salvor gal tonight! One of my students was printing a mass of transparencies for a final project and she came to visit. Alex is a student at RISD and interned at Salvor over the summer. Hi Alex!

Oh, bagman.

I am trying to find images of the stuffed mountains that are @ kiosk, but no go so far. Those are my faves. Maybs they are LTDLLC.

loving lover.

We super (like, ultra) cold-pitched the concept of our shop yesterday and Australian label Lover was one Liv mentioned she'd like to carry. Duh.

I love the sweet / edgy duality of the collections and the musical references to Patti Smith and Marianne Faithful which they elaborate on, amongst other things, in their podcast. Music has always been an important element to me in the studio so its always great to hear other artists speak of its role in their practice. A couple of my picks:

I am still searching for oxfords. And by searching I mean hoping that someone will kindly email a link to a pair on ebay (size 10). However, I've been revisiting these lately, so we'll see. Oh, and can I have this hair for xmas?

maira kalman

I was planning to post about one of my other favorite illustrators, Charley Harper, until I saw this documentary. Maira Kalman blogged for a year @ NYT and embroiders stuff, too. Her daughter's middle name is Bodoni. Awesome.
