SCARVES! FINALLY!!!!

Peter and I finally put a small collection of scarves online. It only took 4EVA. Please take a look and let us know what you think!
We are super duper bummed not to be in California for T-givez but are making due with our amazing friends and yummy food here. Our menu as follows:

A 30lb turkey! (a collective first)
Curry stuffing
Garlic mashed sweet potatoes
Cranberry lime ginger sauce
Cranberry pumpkin bread
Potato and artichoke soup
Asparagus
Sweets
Cocktails GAH-LORE
other stuff I'm probably forgetting...

Otherwise, we are *this close* to finishing the exposure unit. And. WE. CANNOT. WAIT. to start printing for reals. Especially cuz we've already got about 3 jobs lined up. This past monday morning, I rolled out of bed and printed (in my pjz!) some samples for Wayne that turned out amazing but we postponed our meeting to friday so I will post the results thereafter. Needless to say, it felt great to print again. We also tried a different brand of textile ink that worked much, much better than the regular 'ol speedball that we normally use.

Oh, and Jeff and I started a project here.

ziad / rykiel

Our friend Ziad is printing new tees and ever since he emailed me these test prints (bottom pic), these eyes have been popping up everywhere (including URBZ). My hope is that he gets his up on the interwebs ASAP cuz they are TCFS. Also, I just love this velvet bow shirt. Can you say DIY xmas project? The bow and bag are Sonia Rykiel.

although not the most comprehensive look (and certainly not unbiased and not exactly properly edited), i've been compiling pictures and mental notes from fall fashion week 09 (fyi dudes who read: this really means they are showing stuff for spring 09).


1. anne of green gables and eley kishimoto fall08 (see above image) as inspiration for marc jacobs. come on people, am i right or am i right??? the kitty is just because i love you.

2. patterned tights. looooooove. cannot wait to start wearing tights (and double tights): top shop, eley kishimoto


3. prints prints and more prints. simple prints, print comboz, and subtle comboz of the two. obviously this is a duh, especially coming from me: diane von furstenwhatever, marni, luella, temperley


4. color combos, etc. still loving this electric blue but also the softer sherbert colors (mmmmmm) mixed with greyscale: temperley, alexander wang, marc by marc, rodarte. PS i totally had a paul smith picture to post but the model's hair was so greasy and yuck - as were the rest of the models' hair in the show. the really wet look is kinda gross.


5. let's be honest. i'm for defs not gonna be walking around in rodarte heels or dvf dresses anytime soon. mostly because my fall fashion to-do list includes modifying my grandma's denim jumpsuit and trying to find shoes that actually fit. most wearable: marios schwab, charlotte ronson, jaeger london, alexander wang

easy breesy be be weny

there will always be a soft spot in mah heart for built by wendy. it was around the time when i secretly subscribed to sassy (my mom despised it) that i found out about her guitar straps and dresses... you know, when i was 13. man, i wish i had held on to those issues.

the new fall line is the most sophisticated of her's yet, though still somewhat demure, wholesome, Midwest americana meets lederhosen vibe.

speaking of BBW, we went to hope's open studio last night. i love the gestural quality of her paintings and expanded color palette. her show at richard heller in LA opens on september 6th. (hope does illustration for BBW)

notes on proximity aka nerding out: a) i visited booklyn last winter, which is in the same building as her studio; b) wendy sold me a pattern once. she was much shorter than i expected. however, i always forget how tall i am.

leap year/gap year

Talk about serious summering. Its monday and I just had a margarita with lunch. whooa whoo! But seriously ever since leap year (the date my boyfriend and i got together) i've been having a serious gap year (his term). That is why I am packing up, sadly leaving the proximity of Breanne and Peter, and moving to The A, yes you heard me correctly, L.A. here I come. WHY?!?!?!?!?! you might say. I understand your confusion, trust me, i felt the same at the thought of that strange far land... then I visited it and met some really nice people who didn't get high colonics and botox everyday. I realize that is where i have to be if i am going to make some serious splashes in the costuming world.

So now i get to really live up to my print assistant nic-name: HOLLYWOOD!
I just hope I can survive without Peter and Bre, I don't know what I am going to do
every night without them!!

hello faithful (judge) modernaesthetician readers! i wanted to post to say wtf, where have we been! well, i've been in africa and breanne has been drum roll, dddddddddddddddddddddcrash! GRADUATING! tomorrow is the ceremony but baby is done!



now we are looking forward to the future. we are finding her a job (which i find silly, i don't have "a job" per se and i'm fine... sorta) and a place to live in brooklyn and then modernaesthetician reunites! we are already working on a corprate identity project together for an antiques dealer in London! yea! we are looking forward to a really good summer.

omg. blogger is so buggy lately.

I forgot to mention the other day that I'm working on a large farewell edition for trades with peepz at school. With all my love, a nest of Pomeranian puppies. There's also 'ol goat cat in the works if I can ever finish writing and making stuff for my installation. And looking for a job and apartment. SOON!
